By Angelique Jurd By: Kate Lock Publisher: Hachette Livre RRP: $39.99 If you are looking to expand your collection of ‘green’ books – don’t miss Confessions of an Eco Shopper. After being spoiled by reading Annmaree and Christina’s wonderful Living Green I admit I was not in the mood to be told what to do by one of those awful “preachy, let your arm pits get hairy and go live in the forest on mushrooms and bird droppings” books. Who does? But in Confessions of an Eco Shopper by Kate Lock I found the perfect companion to Living Green. Confessions is a very realistic, very pragmatic, and extremely funny look at trying to be environmentally aware and responsible – and some of the challenges that presents. Lock documents her often hilarious attempts at going green in such a way that you are no longer embarrassed by your own while at the same time, tempted to give it another try. If nothing else, I decided, it was proof that it wasn’t as simple as everyone kept telling me. And at least none of my green minded experiences matched some of hers..... Living Green and Confessions of an Eco Shopper are both permanently by my bedside now. The first to help me make the decisions and the second to remind me that even if it’s not easy going making the switch – it can at least be fun.
