By ‘Big Al’ Lester Another book on hunting by Al Lester, this one narrates the author’s varied bush experiences in various parts of New Zealand, and how he discovers the personalities of his hunting mates on his expeditions with them. It’s a combination of Al’s and his mates’ stories. The book explores their adventures in the hunt for pig, deer, chamois and fish, while bringing out the hardships, successes, failures, and the fun involved, in a thoroughly engrossing manner. Al describes many interesting and unusual events in quite a blokey way, with an infusion of information, delightful humour, imaginative description and story telling. An interesting and insightful read for everyone, including those who don’t know even the ‘h’ of hunting.
