There is an eerie feeling around the Great Urban Ark at the moment.  Everything and everyone is being unnervingly well behaved.

Granted there is a flush of spring growth – yes I know it’s only a quarter acre section, but spring growth is spring growth – and the Indian Runners and Henny Penny Gang are somewhat distracted with all the bug life that accompanies it.

The slobradogs and the cats can be found in sleepy heaps in the sun, rousing themselves only at the sound of a tin opener or the word “food”.  It’s shaping up to be a peaceful summer at this rate.

Here at the Rural Living office however it has been a different story as we have pulled together this issue whilst celebrating the fact that, recession or no recession, Rural Living has turned two.

Admittedly we did it very quietly this year – but do it we did!  And it’s thanks to the fantastic readers and advertisers who support us each month.

Please make sure you support our advertisers and don’t forget to tell them you saw them in Rural Living – without our advertisers we would not have made it this far.

It is also time for our annual Ag Day photo competition –don’t forget to send us your photos so we can get them up on our website for voting.

As always there will be a fabulous prize up for grabs for the winning school –but to make sure you keep reading we’re not going to tell you what it is until next month.

We can be tricky that way.  Send your photos by email to editor@ruralliving.co.nz or by post to Angelique Jurd, Rural Living Ag Day Competition, P O Box 259 243 Botany, Manukau 2163.

Next month Rural Living is  going to be looking at building renovation and miniature animals – and if there are any other stories you would particularly like to see, or you have a great story to share with us, why not drop us a line to editor@ruralliving.co.nz

Until next month everyone, stay well, stay safe, and stay happy.
