Winning the Supreme Award in the RWNZ Enterprising Rural Women Award 2011 gave Marlborough cheese maker, Lisa Harper such a boost she is now urging rural businesswomen to enter the upcoming 2012 Awards. Entries are now open for the Enterprising Rural Women Award 2012, providing an opportunity for rural women to raise their business and media profiles and promote their products and services. RWNZ’s national president, Liz Evans says the organisation is aware that women face extra hurdles operating a business from a rural location. “But we also know that these women are incredibly resourceful, especially using social media and technology to make distance less of a barrier, and we want to celebrate that success,” Ms Evans says. “That’s one reason we’ve introduced a new award category this year, the FlyBuys Online Business Award, for women who largely carry out business via the internet.” The supreme winner will be chosen from three category winners, and announced on May 21, 2012 at the RWNZ conference. Entries for the award close Friday, March 16, 2012. For entry forms visit www.ruralwomen.org.nz.
