Field Days all about education
Friday, 21 May 2010
This year’s Northland Lifestyle Field Days will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 down at the Maungaturoto Country Club, Maungaturoto Northland. “This year is all about education,” Real Town Maungaturoto Committee chairman Mike Forbes said. “We aim to teach people via our speakers, demonstrations etc the basic know-how to living on a lifestyle block.” The team at the Northland Lifestyle Field Days are keen to get plenty of bookings for this year’s event from a wide variety of site holders. Book a trade site by 30th June 2010 and receive a 20% discount off the site fee. Real Town Maungaturoto Inc (RTMto) has for a number of years held a lifestyle or blockholder’s field day. These were mostly events for merchants to show their wares, and adults and especially children to engage with petting animals, enjoy fun rides, food and have a good day out, and for lifestylers to engage with exhibitors. Last year, it was decided to pursue a sustainable independent income source from making the Field Day into a Northland wide event, to engage Local Authorities and Regulatory Agencies and to improve the Field Day’s relevance to the many issues facing owners of blocks larger than sections, smaller than so-called economic farms. It is interesting to note there are 27,000 such blocks in Northland . Many are owned by original thinking resourceful people, with the ability and passion to explore other ways of doing things; the incubators for future successful enterprises, with emphasis on sustainability and less damage to the environment, with the intention of producing a better environment in which to live and bring up children. Exhibitor feedback at the Northland Field Days frequently comments on a better engagement with visitors. The event on Saturday 13 November will once again be held at the impressive Maungaturoto Country Club. Field Days goers can expect to enjoy a day of fun, food stalls, demonstrations and displays, animals, birds, lifestyle block information, speakers, real estate and much more. Don’t forget to mark it in the calendar!
