Given the accomplishment of the writers in circumnavigating the majority of New Zealand on or by horse, this is a slightly disappointing read. It is written in diary form by both Genna and Kerrin, and comes across as rather disjointed, possibly as a result.

It was as a result of her earlier children’s book Caesar the ANZAC Dog, and completes the history of much of the New Zealand forces involved in the fighting on the western front, at Gallipoli and the near East.
