Our name comes from our origin as part of the NZ Lifestyle Breeds Society, not because of the growth of Highlands being owned by so many Lifestyle block owners. We proudly boast amongst our members some of NZ’s largest Highland Studs and some of the smallest too.

Animals registered with NZLHS have won some of the most prestigious trophies in the cattle industry, including 7 Meat and Wool Cups. No other Highland Society has achieved this!

Recognition of our achievements and strength means we have been accepted for affiliation to the R.A.S.  (Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand). This is another significant step forward for our society and will assist us in getting even stronger.

When maintain a very high standard in our herd book, and this was recently proven in an independent audit carried out. We are available to all members for advice and assistance on everything from health and animal care to selling and business mentoring and support.

Our goals are to be recognised by the New Zealand cattle industry and its various administrative branches and committees as: 

a)    being one of the most professional and progressive organisations within the cattle industry

b)    managing the most accurate and detailed Highland Herd book

c)    being the most member friendly and member supportive organisation involved in herd book management
